Take a good look at this photo. Take it in. Ahh…the beauty of a Disney theme park at night, right? There’s something extra special about an evening at Disneyland Resort. In fact, one of our favorite parts of spending the night at Disneyland is catching the fireworks show. It’s just SO GOOD.

Disneyland
Clearly, the DFB team is a big fan of fireworks. The combination of music, pyrotechnics, and projections really creates something magical. And now, Disney has started using drone technology to further enhance its nighttime spectaculars. Thanks to @socaloutdoorexplorer and @whatsupscv on Instagram, we may have an update on a new drone project in Disneyland.
While Disney has yet to officially comment on any new nighttime projects, recent drone testing in Santa Clarita, California, could be an indication that something new is on the way. The video shows some VERY impressive drone formations, depicting scenes from Peter Pan, Moana, The Little Mermaid, and Fantasia. What could you be up to, Disney?
NEW: Disney drones were once again seen over Golden Oak Ranch in Santa Clarita, Calif., on Tuesday. Tonight's test included Peter Pan, Moana, Sorcerer Mickey, Ursula, and more. Thanks to SoCal Outdoor Explorer / What's Up Santa Clarita (IG) for sharing the video. pic.twitter.com/Dpp1Z37QU2

According to @socaloutdoorexplorer and @whatsupscv, the drones were spotted around 7 PM on October 21st, 2025. Users @DisneyScoopGuy and @plants_of_Disneyland shared additional footage from the same performance. In these clips, the scenes seemed to be from Aladdin.
A Disney drone show was just filmed over the Disney Ranch in Santa Clarita, California! Could a new drone show be coming to Disneyland?

Why Santa Clarita? Well, Disney and ABC Studios own two back lots on the Golden Oak Ranch — seems like the perfect place for mysterious drone tests, right?

We’ll have to wait for more information from Disney. In the meantime, there’s a lovely little fireworks spectacular you can watch in Disneyland called Wondrous Journeys. It’s part of the grand Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration, which features special shows, theming, snacks, merchandise, and more!

Wondrous Journeys
If this show sounds familiar, it’s not in your head. Wondrous Journeys has returned for Disneyland Resort’s 70th Celebration! The nighttime spectacular celebrates the legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios and takes you on a journey through its most iconic stories and beloved characters. From early classics like Snow White and Pinocchio to modern favorites like Encanto and Wish, the show is a love letter to the artists, characters, and stories that built the Disney legacy. The fireworks portion of the show runs on select nights.

Wondrous Journeys
The Disneyland 70th Anniversary celebration officially kicked off on May 16th, 2025, and will continue through the summer of 2026. Could a new drone show take over this summer? We can’t WAIT to find out!

This show is so cool!
Don’t forget — the current nighttime spectacular does NOT launch fireworks every night. If catching the full show, fireworks and all, is important to you, make sure to check the calendar before your visit. That is Cool!!
We did the Disney Springs drone show, and it was amazing. I could easily see Disney working on a drone show to reduce the amount of money spent on fireworks (save those for the bigger celebrations) and it would be less impacted by wind.
Could be we never see that drone show here in the states. It could possibly be heading for Scooby Dooby Doo Dubai.
