Trying to decide where to eat in Disney World is not easy, because you’ve got a TON of options. If you want something quick and easy, you’re covered, or if you want to eat one of the fanciest meals out there, Disney’s got you covered on that front, too.
We recently stopped by Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Disney Springs to check out some of their NEW menu items, as well as some of their staples, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to Disney Springs? Let’s find out together!
Atmosphere
This restaurant is located in The Landing at Disney Springs, right behind Morimoto Asia, which means that the best parking garage to be closest to the restaurant is the Orange Garage. While there’s lots of seating inside in the restaurant’s three different rooms, you’ll also notice that outdoor seating is available, right near the outdoor Moonshine Bar.
The food here has a Southern comfort food vibe to it, and the decor matches it! You’ll find lots of wood details in both the interior and exterior, and it overall makes you feel like you’re at an old Southern restaurant in the best way possible — like maybe the waitress will refer to you as “sweetheart” and you’ll have the best biscuits you’ve ever had.
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
The menu here is full of Southern comfort favorites. The restaurant is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner (Breakfast and brunch are the hardest reservations to grab!), but one of the most iconic menu items at any time of day is Moonshine. Their “Shine on Tap” comes with quite a few options to choose from, and you can also order a number of cocktails with the beverage in it. There’s also a flight with all five Shines on Tap flavors for you to enjoy.
If you choose to start with some appetizers, you can try the Church Lady Deviled Eggs or the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits, as well as the Spicy Cauliflower Wings and Fried Pickles. The Salads & Such section has a Fried Chicken Salad, a Chopped BLT Salad, Addie Mae’s Chicken & Dumpling Soup, and the 1981 Salad.
For Buns & Such, you can order a Fried Chicken Sandwich, Meatloaf Sandwich, The Art Burger, Cuban Sandwich, Art’s Hot Chicken Sandwich, Catfish Sandwich, or The Country Club. Then it’s onto the Main Plates! Options here include Art’s Famous Fried Chicken, Meatloaf Main Plate, Smothered Chicken, Skillet-fried Chicken Paillard, Fried Chicken & Doughnuts, Shrimp & Grits, Country Fried Steak, the Kitchen Plate, Chargrilled Chicken, and the St. Augustine Mahi-Mahi.
There are also numerous sides to choose from, such as Cheddar Cheese Drop Biscuits, Mac and Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Southern Slaw, Green Beans, and more. Desserts here are also fantastic, featuring Hummingbird Cake, Shine Cake, Chocolate Pecan Pie, Hot Fudge Bourbon Brownie, Everglazed Doughnuts, or the Signature Sampler.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
There was a LOT to eat here, but we weren’t complaining! We started out with the Church Lady Deviled Eggs for $14, which are Southern-style deviled eggs. These had a great tang to the yolk of the eggs, and the eggwhites had that great rubbery texture that is iconic to deviled eggs, but were also easy to bite through.
We also loved the crispy, yet chewy, and almost sweet piece of bacon and the sprinkle of paprika on top. We also really appreciate that there aren’t any extra fillings in the egg yolk, so it’s a very simple, straightforward appetizer done very well. Not to mention, the price is great for the serving size as well, and eating these as an appetizer won’t leave you feeling too weighed down.
We also got a half order of the Bunch of Puppies, but a full portion will cost you $15. These are House-made hushpuppies served with pimento cheese and red jalapeño jelly, and these are very well done hush puppies. They’re pretty standard, but pairing them with the Pimento Cheese Spread added a great creamy texture to them. While that dipping sauce isn’t too hot, the Red Pepper Jelly does have more of a kick!
The heat from this jelly stays in the front of your mouth and won’t linger, so it’s not too intense. The hush puppies themselves were nice and crispy on the outside while being soft and fluffy inside. If you know you love hush puppies, this is a great choice.
Our next appetizer was the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits for $20, which is three biscuits topped with Chef Art’s famous fried chicken thighs and bread and butter pickles. It’s all drizzled with hot honey. We opted for light meat on ours, but you can get it with dark meat as well.
These are BIG and filling, so we honestly recommend getting them as an entree, or splitting them with at least one other person in your party if you want to save room for the rest of your meal. The hot honey here isn’t too intense, but if you’re super sensitive to spice, it’s something to be aware of. The biscuits are the same cheddar biscuits we know and love, and the chicken was nice and crispy while also being tender.
Moving onto the entrees, we got the NEW Meatloaf Main Plate for $30, which is House-made meatloaf served with creamy mashed potatoes, Southern green beans, and a cheddar drop biscuit. This was a pretty standard, run-of-the-mill meatloaf, but we wouldn’t choose it over any of the chicken options here, since chicken is what this restaurant is really known for.
We did enjoy that there was a chunkier ketchup with more additives like onions on the side, to add on if you’d like. We weren’t disappointed, per se, but it’s not one we would personally get again.
Our other entree was the NEW Smothered Chicken for $32, which is Chef Art’s famous fried chicken thigh atop creamy mashed potatoes and sauteed broccolini, smothered in house-made onion gravy and topped with crispy bacon.
This was MASSIVE and basically had a taste of everything on the menu! The chicken itself is HUGE, and again, we opted for light meat, but you can request dark meat instead, and we genuinely feel you could split this meal up to four ways. The Broccolini had a great taste to it with crunchy stalks, and the Mashed Potatoes were buttery and soft, but the cheese and bacon bits on top really took it over the top.
Overall, we can’t recommend sharing this meal enough — if you conquer this all by yourself, you deserve a medal of some kind.
Drinks
To drink, we picked up the White Peach Sangria for $16, which is Peach moonshine, La Perlina Moscato, and fresh peach puree muddled with orange and mango. Garnished with a moonshine-soaked peach wedge. While our reporter likes sangria, this was very tangy and didn’t taste like a typical sangria. The peaches were also soaked before they were put in the drink, which we felt was just a little too overwhelming. We don’t think we’d get this one again.
Our other drink was The Honey Bee for $16, which is a NEW drink on the menu. This is Tom Cat Gin, honey syrup, and fresh-squeezed lemon—topped with house-made honey foam. This tasted like a whiskey sour with a honey undertone, especially thanks to the piece of honeycomb sitting at the bottom.
However, if you’re adverse to textures, be aware that the honeycomb does begin to break apart a bit at the end of the drink, so you may get some of those waxy bits in your mouth, and it could catch you off guard.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You are looking for some seriously good chicken and drinks. There’s a reason reservations for this spot are hard to come by — the food is simply incredible and hands-down some of the best in Disney Springs.
- You’re a big fan of moonshine and want drinks that you aren’t going to find everywhere in the parks.
- You want a heavy meal that will keep you full for quite some time. You may feel like you need a nap after eating here, but hey, all that Disney walking will have you feeling better in no time.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- If you are looking for something light, you might have a hard time finding something here. This really is a place filled with large serving sizes and a whole lot of carbs.
- Chicken really is the standout on the menu here. There are vegetarian options, but they mostly consist of carbs, so if that’s not what you’re hoping for, this might not be the restaurant for you!
- You won’t be in Disney Springs. Now, quite a few of us on the team think that Homecomin’ is worth a trip to Disney Springs. But if you’re really only looking to stay in the parks, you might not want to venture out for a meal — although, like I said, we think this spot is worth it!
Overall
We’re a big fan of this restaurant overall, but we do see why their breakfast and brunch offerings are most popular. It’s often those items on the menu that stand out above the rest, so if you can, snag a reservation for either of those meals before lunch or dinner (unless you’re not a breakfast person, of course).

I love Chef Art Smith’s. I had the thigh high chicken biscuits. And as much as it was great looking on the plate, the integrity of the biscuit fell apart almost immediately with the first bite and eating it descended into a sticky mess. Yes, very delicious, but I won’t order it again.
