Have you ever been personally victimized by a Disney World snack? No? Just us? Alright, well, buckle up, because we’re about to go on a (very short) JOURNEY, people. One of our FAVORITE snacks at Disney World had been the Buffalo Chicken Chips at Trilo-Bites in Animal Kingdom, so when Disney announced that Trilo-Bites would be closing with the rest of DinoLand, we were disappointed.
But then, Disney announced that these chips would be available at Eight Spoon Café after the closure, so of course, we were thrilled. And THEN, we got some intel that the Buffalo Chicken Chips had CHANGED, and not necessarily for the better. We investigated and found out that, sure enough, the chips were different, and we’re bringing you our full review below.
When these chips were still available at Trilo-Bites (RIP), they were described as “seasoned house-made chips topped with pulled buffalo chicken, arugula, crunchy diced celery, diced tomatoes, and lots of bleu cheese dressing.” Here’s what they looked like — delicious, right?
But, now that these chips are being sold at Eight Spoon Café instead, the description is a little bit different. Now, they’re described as “kettle chips served with buffalo chicken topped with tangy Italian relish and blue cheese,” which sounds not insignificantly different. First, it sounds like these aren’t house-made chips anymore, and the Italian relish sounds different than the regular ol’ lettuce and tomato the old chips had.
We had to order them to see the changes for ourselves, of course, and when we received our order, it was obvious that the Buffalo Chicken Chips had, in fact, changed. These “kettle chips” were no longer house-made like the thicker ones often served around Disney World. Instead, they appeared to basically be Lays Kettle Chips — something we confirmed once we tasted them.
What we loved about the house-made chips is that they had great structural integrity — we didn’t have to worry about them disintegrating beneath the weight of all the toppings. With these new chips, we found them to get a little bit soggy, and we ended up using a fork most of the time.
The chicken itself is excellent — it’s tender and tangy with a little bit of a kick from the buffalo sauce, but nothing overwhelmingly spicy. It’s the same chicken that was on the chips previously, and that you can find in other buffalo chicken dishes around Disney World (like the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese at ABC Commissary).
The blue cheese drizzled on top was pretty standard, and we didn’t notice any changes from the old chips to the new chips. It was a little tangy, but creamy, and paired really well with the buffalo sauce.
The Italian relish (which is Disney’s way of saying giardiniera) added some additional spice to the dish, which we enjoyed, but it really gave off a different vibe than the lettuce and tomato. It’s a blend of pickled veggies like celery, carrot, and peppers, and it definitely makes this dish more flavorful overall.
Ultimately, though, we miss the simplicity of the old Buffalo Chicken Chips, though we’ll still be keeping the new version on our list of favorite Disney World snacks!
We’ll be on the lookout for more snack updates and changes you need to know about at Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news, and check out our video below for more Animal Kingdom snacks!

Noooooo!!! The buffalo chicken chips were my favorite snack in all of Disney. I was excited to find out they would be still be available in AK. This news that they have changed makes me so, so sad. They don’t sound nearly as good. I sure will miss them.
