If you’ve visited Disney World, there’s no doubt you’re probably familiar with Orlando International Airport. That’s the airport that a majority of Disney World visitors fly into, after all. Well, big changes are coming to the airport (y’all, we’re excited about the new restaurants!), but the airport also just did something HISTORIC.
Orlando International Airport recently announced that it will be the first airport in the state of Florida to offer air service to Asia via Zipair Tokyo.
That’s right. For the first time in the airport’s history, Orlando International Airport will offer nonstop passenger charter service to Tokyo via ZipAir Tokyo from February 23rd, 2026 to March 10th, 2026. So maybe Tokyo Disneyland Resort is calling! These flights also mark the first nonstop connection between Florida and the Asia Pacific region, so it’s pretty big deal!
According to The Orlando Business Journal, these flights could result in more than $85 million in local annual economic revenue. If this encourages other carriers to follow suit, that number could go up drastically.
“Our partnership with ZIPAIR is more than just a new route. It’s history,” said Lance Lyttle, Chief Executive Officer for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which operates Orlando International Airport. “This will be the first-ever nonstop passenger flight between Asia Pacific and the state of Florida. The partnership is a testament to the economic strength we share between our communities. We look forward to welcoming ZIPAIR passengers with the warmth and hospitality that both our nations cherish.”
The announcement of the new flights has also generated support throughout the Central Florida region as it’s expected to boost tourism to the area.
