There is nothing worse than running up to your favorite attraction and seeing that sign outside saying it’s closed for a refurbishment. That’s why we keep up on all the closures around Disney World so you can know what’s happening before you scan into the parks and run (okay, walk quickly) to the best attraction around.
Let’s take a look at everything closed in Disney World from November 8th to 15th.
Magic Kingdom
Mickey’s PhilharMagic
This fun, indoor show closed on November 1st, 2025, for a refurbishment and is planned to reopen in late November. Right now, based on the operating hours on the Disney World website, it could be open on November 23rd, ready for you to grab your 3D glasses and enter beloved Disney animation.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
This attraction closed on August 4th, 2025, and isn’t expected to open in 2026, but don’t worry, we think it will be worth the wait. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is undergoing major changes, including the ability to pick up blasters and more reactive targets. There’s even going to be a new ride scene with a new character!
Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island
Back in July, we said our final goodbyes to the Liberty Square River Boat, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Rivers of America to make way for the new Cars land expansion. Piston Peak will have two attractions, including an off-roading racing one. While construction is underway, we don’t have an opening timeline for the land.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
It’s been so long without my Big Thunder Mountain! On January 6th, the ride closed for an extended refurbishment to welcome in some new magic. Disney is adding “spectacular natural caverns full of phosphorescent pools, shimmering and illuminating iridescent stalagmites (the ones on the floor) and stalacites (the ones on the ceiling). I’m so excited to see the Rainbow Caverns, but even more excited to be back on the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness.
Tortuga Tavern
Oh, Tortuga Tavern, what are we going to do with you? This was a seasonal restaurant that hadn’t been used for more than a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. We had spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the floor, but all of that has been taken down, and we’re not sure if this restaurant will ever reopen. We’re always keeping a side eye on it, just in case.
Animal Kingdom
Harambe Market
This quick-service dining location has temporarily closed as of October 20th and is expected to reopen in early 2026. We’re not expecting major changes here, but Disney did say at one point that favorites from Restaurantosaurus would make their way to Harambe Market once it closes permanently in February.
Kali River Rapids
This water ride closed in October for a refurbishment and is set to open in December. While checking the calendar on the Disney World website, we can see available times starting January 1st, so this few-month-long refurbishment might be over soon! It’s not uncommon to see it closed during the colder months since it’s a great time to work on it.
TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, Fossil Fun Games, The Boneyard, Dino Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites
We have one more phase of closures for DinoLand U.S.A. before it’s all over! DinoLand is closing permanently to make way for Pueblo Esperanza, a tropical-themed land. The final phase will be on February 2nd, and then we have Encanto and Indiana Jones to look forward to!
It’s Tough to Be a Bug
Bye-bye, It’s Tough to Be a Bug! This show closed to welcome Zootopia: Better Zoogether, a new show in the Tree of Life. Zootopia: Better Zoogether officially opened, and you go back inside the tree with your pair of 3D glasses for the nine-minute show. Don’t forget to check out the Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps meet and greet next door, too.
Hollywood Studios
Vacation Fun
This short animated show closed on October 20th for refurbishment and is expected to reopen later this year. This theater is one of our favorite air-conditioned spots to go in during the summer, so we’ll be glad it’s in tip-top shape when it starts to get hot again.
Animation Courtyard
Animation Courtyard closed in September to turn into Walt Disney Studios, which is planned to open in 2026. Star Wars Launch Bay is turning into The Magic of Disney Animation, where you can learn about different roles in animation in fun and interactive ways. Disney Jr. Play and Dance! is getting a new Disney Jr. show when it reopens as well. The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure and Walt Disney Presents are staying open during the refurbishment.
Muppets Courtyard
Muppet*Vision, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano all reopened this year for Monsters, Inc. themed land. Above the construction walls, we’re slowly seeing signs being taken down as they work on the new hanging door roller coaster behind the space and turn Muppet*Vision into a new show.
Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach is taking a hiatus while letting Typhoon Lagoon take its time to shine! Both water parks were open during the summer, but Blizzard Beach is now closed for refurbishment, leaving Typhoon Lagoon as the only water park open.
Disney World Hotels
Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort
The fine art store closed in October and will be moving to a new location. We currently don’t have any information on when it will be reopened.
The Paddock Pool, Aquatic Play Area, and The Paddock Grill — Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
The pools, play areas, and grill were closed in mid-October and are set to reopen early December after routine maintenance. It’s pretty common to see lots of pools and water rides being worked on during the winter so they’re ready to be busy during the summer.
Leisure Pool at Miller’s Road — Disney’s Old Key West Resort
From September 29th to late November, the leisure pool will be closed for, once again, routine maintenance. The Sandcastle Pool and both leisure pools at the Old Turtle Pond and South Point are still open for plenty of pool time.
The Samawati Springs Pool Slide — Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
The slide closed in early September, and we currently don’t have a reopening date for when we can get some water slide fun. The pool is still open and there’s a slide at the Uzima Springs Pool, too.
Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk
We’re still sad about this one! Jellyrolls closed in April with the promise of reopening at a different location. We haven’t heard any news on where the new location will be and when it’s opening, but best believe we will be there ready to enjoy the space when it reopens.
