At the start of 2026, EPCOT will kick off one of the most beautiful and creative festivals, but some fans are already annoyed by it!

EPCOT Festival of the Arts!
If you’ve spent any time in the Disney fan community, there can be acronyms for a lot of things. For example, RnR is for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and LWTL is for Living with the Land. Which brings us to the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, affectionately (and accidentally) dubbed “FArts” by fans for short. Yes, it stands for Festival of the Arts, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from having a field day with the acronym!
What Is the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts?
The Festival of the Arts is one of EPCOT’s most visually stunning events with a mashup of art, music, and food that celebrates imagination in every form. In 2026, the festival will run from January 16 through February 23, bringing six colorful weeks of creative fun to Disney World. This fan-favorite festival first debuted in 2017 and has grown into one of the most photogenic and interactive experiences EPCOT offers all year.

Guests can expect to sample gorgeous, art-inspired dishes at food booths, where the chefs turn every plate into a masterpiece. Think desserts that look like paint palettes and beautifully plated bites that are almost too pretty to eat (almost). Our team is there on opening day to try everything so you, our readers, can know what’s worth your time and money.

The “FArts” Phenomenon
Now, let’s talk about that nickname. Disney fans love their abbreviations — we’ve got MNSSHP (Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party), MVMCP (Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party), and of course, FArts (Festival of the Arts). The acronym has been around for years, but it never fails to make newcomers stop mid-scroll and laugh.

One reader, Elysha Savarese, commented on DFB’s page, “I love FARTS!!!!” Others in the community have chimed in with jokes like “Best name ever” and “I can’t take it seriously, but I’ll still book my trip!” However, some fans are not as pleased. One reader wrote, “I’ll Never Get Over That Lady Calling It Farts”. To be fair, something about beautiful art and food does not mix with the nickname.

Returning favorites include Figment’s Brush with the Masters scavenger hunt, where you’ll search World Showcase for Figment as he sneaks into famous works of art, and the always-popular Animation Academy, paint-by-number murals, and interactive photo ops. I like Festival of the Arts. Less crowds than the Christmas Festival and spring break during the garden festival. I like working on the mural with other fellow artists. We like looking for the characters painted on walls in the countries. Food is great, then there’s the Broadway entertainment.
They need a festival for the summer. It’s not hard. Summer decorations, left over flowers from the spring, summer food. C’mon Disney!
