In the summer of 2025, Walt Disney World opened the Beak and Barrel lounge at the Magic Kingdom. The Pirates of the Caribbean-themed space has proven to be immensely popular, BUT there are definitely some issues that have Disney experts concerned.
Over my 7+ years writing about Disney theme parks — and 5x as long visiting them — I can’t remember too many restaurants that garnered quite as much anticipation as the Beak and Barrel. The highly themed establishment, which Disney describes as a spot where “bandits and buccaneers-to-be from every corner of the seven seas are welcome to join together and raise a toast to the pirate life!” The lounge is full of references and easter eggs for eagle-eyed guests to spot… if they have the time.
Much like the similar Galaxy’s Edge establishment Oga’s Cantina, The Beak and Barrel has a STRICT 45-minute time limit. According to the experts on our team – as well as multiple commenters on Facebook and other guest reviewers — this has been the major issue many guests have with the establishment.
Between sitting, ordering, and receiving their food and drink, many feel they have little to no time to enjoy the establishment or to take in every it of theming in the lounge, especially in whichever room they’re not sitting in.
While it’s understandable why Disney enforces this time limit so strictly, given how busy the bar is, it’s still a bummer for many who want to take in every element of the bar.
However, the time limit isn’t the ONLY issue plaguing the Beak and Barrel. Some other problems include:
- Seating Issues: Given the lounge’s size and demand for reservations, there’s a very good chance that a smaller party (especially those of 2 or 1) may end up seated with another party, or simply given a standing room space. While this isn’t a dealbreaker, it’s definitely something to keep in mind and be prepared for if you score a reservation.
- Furthermore, as mentioned above, it can sometimes be tough to see everything in the restaurant. This can be further amplified based on your seats or assigned standing room spot. To be blunt, several spots make it hard to see, for example, the animatronic show featuring Rummy the parrot.
- The space is LOUD: The lounge’s small size and compressed crowds can make it quite loud inside, and in turn may make the experience overwhelming to the point of being incomprehensible.
The Magic Kingdom’s Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Beak and Barrel is one of the most popular spots in Walt Disney World right now, with reservations still hard to come by months after its debut. However, there are still some issues with the popular lounge that have our experts wary. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s latest additions.

While the appearance of Beak N Barrel is impressive the experience is terrible. The cast members doing the seating have no idea what they are doing. The drinks are pre-prepared and are horrible but expensive. The seating if you can call it that is very uncomfortable. It was the worst Disney World experience I have ever had and I have been going to Disney for over 40 years
Bars in the Magic Kingdom are like Waymo cars on the freeways…..Do we need them?
