We love a lot of things about Disney World. The rides, the characters, the energy, and of course, the food. We are Disney Food Blog after all. We have our favorites all over Disney World, and we are constantly trying new food items and revisiting food items to make sure we are giving you the best advice. We have been fans of the hushpuppies at Columbia Harbour House for a while now — and we still remember the hushpuppies’ disappearance in 2024! Don’t worry, the hushpuppies are back, but it was quite the scare. But that isn’t the only thing we love about Columbia Harbor House — come along with us!
We recently stopped by Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom to revisit one of our favorites, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is this spot still worth a stop while you are in Disney World? Find out here!
Atmosphere
You will find Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square, right across from the Haunted Mansion. This quick-service restaurant serves up seafood and New England-inspired favorites in a seafaring setting. The building, inspired by Colonial America, fits in well with Liberty Square’s theme.
Throughout the restaurant, you will find nautical theming and details that help to tell the restaurant’s backstory. For example, you will spot lots of boat replicas throughout the restaurant, like this one!
There are a couple of things we love about Columbia Harbour House: the food (those hushpuppies!), the air conditioning, and the plethora of seating options. We always feel so cozy dining inside Columbia Harbour House. You can choose to dine downstairs or head upstairs for even more options. One of our favorite spots overlooks the walkway by the Haunted Mansion and is perfect for people-watching and relaxing in the air conditioning.
Columbia Harbour House is a quick-service restaurant with two options for ordering. The first option is to order at the register and pick up your food from the counter. Or, the second option is to place a Mobile Order on the My Disney Experience app — our personal recommendation. With a Mobile Order, you can choose a pickup window, let the restaurant know when you arrive, and once your order is ready, head to the counter to pick it up.
You will find self-serve stations throughout the restaurant with utensils, napkins, and condiments. Some of the condiment options include ketchup, mayo, mustard, honey mustard, barbecue sauce, salt, and pepper.
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
Columbia Harbour House serves up New England-inspired fare and lots of seafood options! For entrees, you will find options like the Lobster Roll, Shrimp Skewer Platter, Maple-Mustard Glazed Salmon, and the Chicken Platter. Plus, there is also one plant-based option: the Hearts of Palm and Artichoke Roll.
You can also choose from a variety of sides, including one of our favorites — the hushpuppies! There is also New England Clam Chowder, Green Beans, French Fries, Rice, and more.
There are also options for kids’ meals, such as Grilled Salmon, Grilled Shrimp Skewer, Chicken Strips, and more.
For dessert, you can choose from a Boston Cream Pie or Nonfat Strawberry Greek Yogurt. There are also quite a few drink options, including assorted fountain beverages, a Minute Maid Lemonade Slushy, milk, and more.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
First up, we of course had to grab some Hushpuppies for $5.49. You get six hushpuppies per order, so plan accordingly!
These nuggets of fried corn batter are one of our favorites, and they still taste great! They have a super-crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. The inside has pieces of whole corn mixed in, which adds good texture, and you get quite a bit of the corn flavor.
These have a bit of sweetness, but not enough to make them taste like dessert. And for less than $6, we think this is still a super solid snack choice!
We also got the Maple-Mustard Glazed Salmon for $15.79. It is served with green beans and rice, but you can also change up the two sides. We thought the green beans and rice were a great pair with the salmon, but feel free to choose your favorite!
The salmon was tender and moist. The mustard glaze on top tasted like a slightly sweet Dijon sauce. It packed a great flavor with lots of mustard. We love that it formed a slightly crispy exterior on the salmon, which was a great complement to the soft meat.
The green beans were tender, but with a bit of snap to them — no mushiness here! We didn’t taste any seasoning on them, but you can always grab some salt and pepper from the self-serve stations or opt for a different sauce on top. The rice was plain, and we enjoyed it for the most part. There were a couple of gummy and mushy sections that weren’t super tasty, but most of the rice was decent. It also didn’t have any seasoning, but a bit of salmon with rice and green beans was delicious! Overall, this is a great, healthier option and one we keep coming back to again and again.
Up next, we tried the Beer-battered Fish Platter for $13.49. The dish comes with three pieces of fried fish and French fries.
The breading on the fish is thick and crispy. It isn’t as thick as, say, chicken tender breading, but it is a bit thicker than you normally see on fried fish. However, we really enjoyed the slightly thicker breading. It was super crispy and held up well, and the ratio of fish to breading was great. The breading was a bit oily, but nothing that kept us from eating the fish. The fish inside was tender and moist, and melted in your mouth as you bit into it.
Finally, for dessert, we got the Boston Cream Pie for $5.99. It is vanilla cake layered with vanilla cream, chocolate popping candies, and crisp pearls, topped with fudge icing and a cherry. This is another favorite here at DFB, so let’s see if it is still as good.
We are happy to report that the Boston Cream Pie is still a great dessert. It is a two-layer cake, with a thick layer of cream in the middle and chocolate ganache on top. The cake was moist, especially with all the cream. Then the chocolate ganache on top was fudgy and creamy.
The ideal way to eat this dessert is to get a bit of each layer in your bite. Moist vanilla cake, silky-smooth vanilla cream, and fudgy chocolate make a great combination. You also get a bit of crunch from the chocolate popping candies and crisp pearls.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You are looking for a quick meal with options beyond the classic hamburgers and chicken tenders. If you are tired of chicken tenders and hamburgers, Columbia Harbour House has a few more options than the traditional theme park fare. You can find fish, shrimp, lobster rolls, clam chowder, and more.
- You are a fan of fish and seafood. You can find lots of fish and seafood options on this menu, so if you are a fan of either and are looking for a quick meal, this could be a great option.
- You want to eat at a location with lots of indoor seating. Columbia Harbour House has lots of indoor seating. It can get crowded during peak meal times, but if you are willing to search for a bit, you will likely be able to find somewhere to eat.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You don’t eat fish or seafood. The menu also includes chicken and a plant-based option, but most of the menu is fish and seafood options. If you don’t like fish or seafood, or are allergic to them, this may not be the best dining option.
- You want a restaurant that features a certain character. While Columbia Harbour House has fun nautical theming, and we love walking around and exploring the details, it isn’t themed to a particular Disney movie or character. It is full of colonial New England charm, though! If you are looking for characters in Magic Kingdom, check out Cinderella’s Royal Table or Crystal Palace!
- You want a table service meal. At Columbia Harbour House, you won’t have a waiter or waitress, although there are Cast Members around if you need assistance. If you want a traditional dining experience with a waiter or waitress, you could check out Liberty Tree Tavern, Skipper Canteen, or Be Our Guest.
Overall
Columbia Harbour House continues to be a great option for a quick meal in Magic Kingdom. We love the hushpuppies and Boston Cream Pie that you can grab here, plus the Maple Mustard Glazed Salmon is a great, healthier option. We appreciate that the menu features options beyond the normal theme park fare of hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken tenders. It is a wonderful option for a bit of variety in your quick-service dining while you are at Magic Kingdom! It is also hard to beat the seating options and air conditioning — and we love people-watching from the second floor!
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
