The Atmosphere at Be Our Guest Restaurant — The Beast’s Castle
Welcome to The Beast’s truly magical dwelling. The entrance to Be Our Guest Restaurant is nestled underneath a mysterious castle in the Fantasyland “countryside”!
The scene is set even as you approach the entrance, with gargoyles keeping watch at a few spaces along the stone path.
Passing through an old gateway to a stone bridge and through wrought-iron gates and ultimately to the Castle doors, guests are reminded of the story of the Beast’s transformation.
And now it’s time to step inside…
The Grand Ballroom
Upon arrival, guests enter directly into The Grand Ballroom.
The Ballroom conveys the film’s elegance with a coffered, 20-foot ceiling with artwork featuring fluffy clouds and cherubs, sparkling chandeliers and a terrazzo floor.
At the far end of the room, 18-foot-tall arched windows look out to the French countryside, where special effects create gently falling snow through the starry sky.
The West Wing
Home to the Enchanted Rose, entry into the dark and mysterious West Wing is forbidden by The Beast. (Unless, you know, your host or hostess seats you there. Then it’s totally cool.)
The Rose sits in an unassuming corner, and beside it lies the Enchanted Mirror.
The enchanted rose slowly drops petals as time runs out for the beast.
From time to time, thunderstorms rattle the room.
The flashes of lightning simultaneously reveal a change in the portrait hanging over the fireplace from the Prince…
…. to THE BEAST!
The Castle Gallery
The third room is the Castle Gallery, or the Rose Gallery.
This room just so happens to be Belle’s favorite (as we’ve learned from Cast Members).
Here, guests are surrounded by portraits displaying scenes of Belle and The Beast’s life together.
And in the midst of it all is a larger-than-life music box (made by Belle’s father, Maurice, for her wedding) where Belle and The Beast twirl while you dine.
As in all Disney films, music is an important element throughout Be Our Guest Restaurant. Musical themes from the film add to the ambiance. In the Ballroom, a 50-piece orchestra recorded the music from the film. The Rose Gallery, features special music box arrangements of the same pieces heard in the Ballroom, in perfect synchrony, so that guests moving from room to room will hear the same tune transformed from one style to another. It’s in the West Wing, that a somber, melancholy arrangement will be heard.
Even beyond the dining rooms, beautiful touches enhance every inch of Be Our Guest Restaurant, like these gorgeous entryway mosaics.
Thanks to an abundance of Disney Imagineered details, guests truly feel as if they’ve been transported inside the beloved film.
The Beast at Be Our Guest Restaurant
Please be aware that Be Our Guest Restaurant is NOT a Character Meal. However, a rare character does make an appearance: it’s THE BEAST himself!
Guests can see The Beast in productions like Fantasmic! And Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage (both in Disney’s Hollywood Studios). But, save for the very rare occasions when he may stop by EPCOT’s France pavilion for a bit of fresh air, this guy is fairly impossible to catch up close. So seeing him at Be Our Guest is certainly a boon. But we must emphasize the word “appearance.” The Beast strolls through the various rooms so guests can see him at one point during their meal. There are no individual table meet and greets or posing for photos — at least, not at this time. Prior to the temporary closure of Disney World in 2020, guests DID get to meet the Beast and pose for a photo with him after their meal. However, that photo opportunity has not regularly returned as part of the experience.
