UPDATED October 6, 2025
“To all who come to this happy place: WELCOME. Disneyland is your land.”
Those are the words Walt Disney spoke to invite guests into Disneyland park when it opened on July 17, 1955. (That’s right — 2025 marks the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland Resort!)
And guests have been enjoying time in The Happiest Place on Earth ever since!
“To all who come to this happy place: WELCOME.” — Walt Disney
Home to the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle and nine whimsically themed lands, Disneyland is truly unique with its wonderful distinction of being Walt Disney’s original park.
In fact, Walt Disney once made his home in Disneyland in an apartment above the Disneyland Fire Department, and you’ll see a light in the window that stays lit in his honor.
Beyond the Fire Department, Main Street, U.S.A. sets the turn-of-the-century scene inspired by Walt Disney’s childhood home of Marceline, Missouri.
From here, guests head towards the Hub where the Partners statue — a tribute to Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse — stands in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Where to next? Well, that’s up to YOU, as guests can venture off to Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, and Adventureland from the Hub!
Beyond the lands connected to the Hub, guests may also visit New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, Bayou Country, and the park’s newest land, Star Wars: Galaxys’ Edge.
Let’s explore!
Attractions
As the original Disney park, Disneyland is home to many classic attractions that are truly quintessential to the Disneyland experience, from “it’s a small world” and Peter Pan’s Flight to the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.
It’s also home to the roller coaster MOUNTAINS: Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, as well as the Matterhorn Bobsleds! And along with Galaxy’s Edge came the arrival of the park’s most in-demand attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance! But there’s LOTS more in store…
