UPDATED July 4, 2025
A brand NEW theme park is NOW OPEN in Orlando, Florida as of May 22, 2025: Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe! Five themed lands make up Epic Universe: Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, Dark Universe, and the land we’re exploring here: How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk!
How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, “the world’s first dragon-Viking utopia” from the DreamWorks movie franchise.
Universal has shared that Isle of Berk is “a vibrant world where raucous Vikings and rambunctious dragons live together in hilarious harmony – based on the wildly popular How to Train Your Dragon film franchise.”
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk Theming
The storyline of the land takes place between the first and second How To Train Your Dragon movies. Universal Orlando worked with DreamWorks Animation to create this land, in which the theming extends to “immense architecture featuring hand-carved details, lush landscaping, and extraordinary heights of rolling hills surrounding vibrant dragon houses and local establishments.”
Two 40-foot-tall Viking statues set the scene when you enter the land, and once you get inside, you’ll take in views of a sparkling lagoon and the Viking village.
Let’s EXPLORE Isle of Berk and its upcoming attractions, restaurants, a play area, show, and character meet-and-greets!

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders is a family thrill coaster where you’ll join Hiccup to test out “his latest glider contraption” that he’s invented! Hiccup, you see, has created a way for riders to simulate what its like to fly on a dragon. His winged flying machine is designed to launch aspiring Dragon Riders into the air, complete with feeling of swooping and soaring through the air.
The dilemma? Well… Toothless isn’t altogether thrilled with this new invention, which leads to a wild ride!
The coaster reaches speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, taking visitors around the perimeter of the land and even across the lagoon.
Oh, and riders encounter BOTH Toothless and Hiccup along the way!
