ALOHA! And WELCOME to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort celebrates the welcoming “Aloha Spirit” of the South Pacific.
Walt Disney World offers three Resort hotel levels: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a Deluxe Resort located near Magic Kingdom. The Polynesian is also home to Disney Vacation Club Villas & Bungalows, and is also now home to even more Disney Vacation Club Villas since the new Island Tower opened on December 17, 2024!
Deluxe amenities, fun Resort activities and unique options for recreation, a wide range of dining options (including Character Dining, one of Disney World’s most beloved all-you-care-to-enjoy feasts, and a truly enchanted Tiki Bar!), lovely and relaxing pools, and much more make up this stunning Resort.
And it’s all just a quick Monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom…
Let’s EXPLORE!
Atmosphere
The Polynesian celebrates tiki culture, and offers a nostalgic image of Pacific island vacations, though it isn’t necessarily a literal representation of those environments.
Dark woods are contrasted against brighter hued accents and tropical flowers.
The water elements both in and outdoors are truly remarkable.
As one of Walt Disney World’s opening day hotels (October 1st, 1971), Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has a rich history, and a HUGE following among Disney fans.
It really does embrace its name of “village” as its layout is comprised of 11 longhouses plus the over-the-water Bora Bora-like Bungalows and Island Tower.
These components branch out from the center of it all: the Great Ceremonial House.
Dining
Guests at Polynesian Village Resort have a wide array of dining options to enjoy, from Disney character dining to Quick Service restaurants to relaxing (some might even say enchanted) lounges, and beyond!
Table Service Restaurants
‘Ohana is one of the most popular and beloved dining experiences in Walt Disney World!
Indulge in an all-you-can-eat Dinner feast of grilled meats, Hawaiian specialty sides, and the signature ‘Ohana Bread Pudding for dessert. (And if you time your meal right, you can enjoy viewing the Magic Kingdom fireworks from inside ‘Ohana!)
If you visit ‘Ohana in the morning, you’ll typically get to meet Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and other Disney pals… all dressed up in their Hawaiian finest for the Best Friends Breakfast!
Ready for a visit to the islands? Time to head over to Kona Café!
This bright and airy casual Table Service restaurant is known for Tonga Toast and Macadamia Nut Pancakes for breakfast. Specialty Sushi Rolls, burgers, and Dashi and Poke Bowls are just some of the options on the expansive lunch and dinner menu.
Wailulu Bar & Grill is located in the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
The Wailulu Bar & Grill offers “breathtaking views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom Park.” This casual walk-up pool bar and grill features an all-day Table Service menu for lunch and dinner. (There are also specialty coffee and on-the-go morning pastries available for breakfast.)
Counter Service Restaurants
Capt. Cook’s offers unique island-inspired quick service meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual and fun environment with indoor and outdoor seating.
For breakfast, Capt. Cook’s serves up a signature dish among its offerings: Tonga Toast! Polynesian favorites (like an Aloha Pork Sandwich and Pulled Pork Nachos) along with classic quick service eats like burgers, are served for lunch and dinner.
Lucky guests at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort also have access to one of the most beloved Disney World snacks at their own resort: Dole Whip!
Pineapple Lanai delivers a designated spot for the popular treat.
Kona Island offers a surprising variety of specialty coffee drinks like a Kona Blend Coffee Press Pot and pastries in the mornings.
During lunch and dinner, the options expand to offer Sushi selections as well.
Bars and Lounges
Trader Sam — the famous Head Salesman of Jungle Cruise fame — has collected artifacts from all over the globe in his travels and has brought them to his “happy hideaway” in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto!
Disney details abound all over Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto — a 51-seat bar which also features interactive elements from special effects throughout the room and zany antics from the bartenders in response to the ordering of certain libations (many of which are served in highly collectible souvenir tiki glasses)!
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is a relaxed, outdoor lounge featuring the same creative concoctions and food served inside Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.
Live music and an outdoor waterfall contribute to the island vibe, and the enthusiastic Skippers who serve you play a huge part in making your experience fun and enjoyable.
Tambu Lounge is located in the waiting area for ‘Ohana. The bartenders are friendly, and sipping a signature Lapu Lapu (a rum drink served in a fresh pineapple) is always memorable!
In addition to specialty cocktails and a full bar, a small menu of appetizers is also available.
Those spending some time kicking at back the Lava Pool can also relax at the Barefoot Pool Bar.
This tiki hut-inspired outpost is a great place to grab a tropical drink, like a Pago Pago Painkiller or The Voyager (a drink that DFB helped to create!).
Guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort can enjoy the Oasis Pool during their visit.
And this is where you’ll find the Oasis Bar & Grill, ready to serve up Polynesian-themed food and specialty cocktails to folks making a splash at the pool.
Guest Rooms
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort features standard guest rooms with 2 Queen Beds and a Day Bed which can sleep up to 5 adults. Guests may choose a Resort View, a Theme Park View, or a Water View. Club Level (or Concierge) Rooms also include Resort View, Theme Park View, or Water View room options as well as Suites: 1 Bedroom, the Ambassador VP Suite, and the King Kamehameha Suite. A Honeymoon Room is also available for booking.
In July 2021, guest rooms reopened following a major refurbishment to debut Moana-inspired decor, combining a Polynesian theme with modern design. The fun Moana details actually start before you set foot inside the room!
As you step inside, a bathroom and closet present themselves before the setting opens up to the main part of the room.
Here you can see the entirety of the main sleeping area. The color palette is based around a calming tan shade that’s complimented by pops of teal and orange.
Here is the room from the opposite angle taken during daytime hours.
These rooms are not short on storage! In addition to the main dresser below the TV, there is a generous three-door closet next to the coffee bar.
Inside are some complimentary hangers, spare bedding, a safe, and even a full-length mirror.
The coffee bar is supplied with a Keurig and all you need for a nice cup of joe in the morning.
Below is a mini-fridge, perfect for storing your dinner leftovers for a midnight snack.
In between the beds is a nightstand with plugs for your chargers and the Hey Disney digital assistant! There’s also more storage underneath.
Each bed also has its own small side table as well as a bench for lounging or holding luggage.
The massive windows are perfect for letting in the Florida sunshine!
(There are also blackout curtains for those who prefer to sleep in.)
Accent tables are placed near a cushioned armchair for one.
The couch has Moana-inspired cushions, plus it comes with a handy tag showing instructions on how to convert it into a bed.
This is what it looks like when it’s in bed-mode!
Over in the bathroom, you have plenty of room to get ready for a full day in the parks. There are two sinks, a large shower, and a separate toilet room.
This is an excellent size for a hotel shower, plus it has two shower heads!
The shower is fully stocked …
… and even more products can be found on the counter.
There are plenty of Moana touches across the room. From this wallpaper inspired by Maui’s tattoos …
… to this lampshade …
… to the adorable Heihei above the coffee station, there are plenty of details throughout this room that we enjoyed searching for.
And last but not least, the room comes with a lovely balcony area.
Depending on which floor you’re on, it may be a patio.
